The Best Luxury Hotels In Sardinia

Sardinia is a place of dazzling beauty. As a top-ranked holiday destination, it surely has a fantastic selection of top-ranked places to stay, and indeed there are lot of excellent luxury hotels in Sardinia.

Whether you are the type to save all year round to enjoy a superb holiday in summer, or you just want to be spoiled for two weeks and can afford it, the hotel where you’ll be staying is an essential part of the holiday experience. Here are my suggestions for the best luxury hotels in Sardinia, roughly selected by area.

The Best Luxury Hotels In Sardinia

South Sardinia

Some of the nicest luxury hotels in Sardinia are located on the south of the island, with a few in Cagliari and many more along the coast. Here are the top picks.

Casa Clat (Cagliari)

One of the most recently opened luxury hotels in Sardinia, this beautiful hotel in Cagliari puts together a great location, in the heart of the historic center of town and close to all attractions, with wonderful decor and top notch service.

The spacious rooms all come with either a balcony, a small garden to access or a jacuzzi. You will also have the option to dine at the on-site gourmet restaurants, one of the best in town.

The wine selection is as good as it gets with local and international wines, and you will have a freshly prepared meal with local ingredients cooked to perfection.

Villa Fanny (Cagliari)

Built inside an 18th century villa, Villa Fanny is the top hotel in Cagliari’s city center. Each of its 19 rooms, from the smaller ones to the big suites, are a mix of ancient and modern that will leave a lasting impression on you. The guests can enjoy the top of treatments, in the best area of the city.

You will be staying a few hundred meters from all the major attractions in town such as the Roman Amphitheater and the Botanic Gardens, and will be walking distance to Stampace and La Marina districts, where all the nightlife and restaurants are located – while at the same time being tucked in a quieter corner of town.

A quick drive will take you to other points such as the best beaches in Cagliari or Molentargius Nature Reserve.

how to get to Sardinia

La Villa del Re (Costa Rei)

A private beach equipped with water sports tools, an out-of-this-world coast and shoreline, and excellent rooms that aren’t missing a single feature. What more do you need?

This place is the ideal escape for the ones looking for a peaceful holiday away from everything, kids included: this is a kids-friendly facility, where your children will be as pampered as you will be.

Faro Capo Spartivento

Built inside an old lighthouse, the Faro Capo Spartivento Guest House is always ready to welcome customers from all around the world in its rooms and suites. This is the only hotel located inside a lighthouse in all of Italy, which makes for a pretty unique experience.

Rooms are curated in every single detail at Capo Spartivento, and the infinity pool overlooks the bluest of seas! Free parking and a free shuttle bus to Cala Cipolla Beach are offered to every guest.

Best luxury hotels in Sardinia

Chia Laguna Hotel

Located inside the biggest Chia Laguna Resort, one of the top resorts in Chia, this hotel offers everything you need to spend a dreamy holiday. All the rooms have a balcony or veranda and all the needed equipment you can expect from a luxury hotel.

You will have access to two fabulous swimming pools, a golf course and much, much more. Guests can make use of the parking facilities and then hop on the daily free shuttle service to the beaches.

Santa Margherita di Pula

Il Castello (Forte Village, Pula)

This hotel’s rooms, divided into several categories to meet the need of all guests, are all equipped with traditional Sardinian furniture and often have a veranda or balcony. Here, you can relax at the pool, where breakfast is served every day, and which is linked to the private beach.

Or you can enjoy the resort’s water park or join the scuba activities; dine in one of the many restaurants – including one run by Gordon Ramsey. You can even have a wine tasting experience in the local winery. There is so much to do, you’ll never feel bored!

Villa del Parco and SPA (Forte Village, Pula)

As the name suggests, the main charm of this hotel is the unrivaled SPA service they offer, on top of all the other features such as the two private pools, the private gardens, and the bungalows. If you are looking for a place to relax and completely wash away all your stress, this is the right choice.

Porto Cervo

Costa Smeralda

Costa Smeralda is a glitzy destination, known for its glamorous bars, restaurants and for being home to some of the most lavish luxury hotels in Sardinia.

Hotel Pitrizza (Porto Cervo)

Located in the beautiful Porto Cervo, the beating heart of Costa Smeralda, the Pitrizza hotel offers everything you might want from a luxury hotel – and much more. Guests will have access to a private beach, swimming pool, SPA, and a fitness center. Moreover, the rooms are, of course, the best of the best!

Capriccioli

Hotel Cala di Volpe (Porto Cervo)

The Cala di Volpe Hotel is surrounded by nature and has a saltwater pool (which for the swimming junkies here is a real treat!), three tennis courts, and several personal trainers ready to assist you in their fitness center.

The rooms are, as expected, perfectly curated, and so is the food. The beaches are a few minutes away and can be reached by car, boat, or via the free shuttle service departing daily from the pool area.

Arzachena

Cascioni Eco Retreat (Arzachena)

Each of the suites in this resort is neatly furnished and looks on either the emerald sea or the beautiful Sardinian countryside. The wellness center is renowned for its service and the restaurant and swimming pool just add to the many features for your relaxing holiday.

Many historical sites are just a few minutes’ drive from the hotel, so why not take the opportunity and explore some ancient ruins?

Costa Smeralda

Hotel Romazzino (Costa Smeralda)

Another excellent hotel in an excellent location, the Romazzino offers two fitness centers, a saltwater swimming pool, two restaurants, and beautiful rooms equipped with every comfort and with a private terrace each.

You will be staying a few meters from their private beach and, if you come with your family, the staff will take care of your kids with all sorts of activities so that you can enjoy a fully relaxing holiday.

7Pines Resort (Baja Sardinia)

A recent addition among the luxury hotels in Sardinia, 7Pines Resort counts with magnificent views overlooking the sea and facing a beautifully kept garden. Rooms have everything you need for a perfect stay.

The hotel has a private beach, two wonderful swimming pools to relax and exercise and an onsite restaurants. Traveling with your pet? Don’t worry, he (or she!) will be welcome here.

La Maddalena

La Maddalena Archipelago

Located in La Maddalena, you will find a good selection of luxury places to stay. Here is my pick.

Excelsior

Located in the best spot on the island, this hotel offers everything you might need for a perfect holiday. The rooms are all nicely furnished and the food on offer on the on site restaurant is delicious.

The concierge will be happy to book a boat expedition around the archipelago. Or, you can rent a bike to explore the area or take a ferry to Palau to explore more of Sardinia.

Alghero

While there are plenty of good mid range and budget places to stay in Alghero, should you be in search of luxury here’s what I recommend.

Smy Carlos V Alghero

This hotel’s best feature is the sea-view rooftop, which is granted to leave you breathless. From there, you can see the beautiful city of Alghero.

The rooms and the service at this place are also in line with what a luxury hotel requires: you’ll be staying in one of the top facilities in the city center, surrounded by ancient palaces and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Central Sardinia

Away from the glitz of more famous tourist destinations, Central Sardinia is home to a selection of fantastic hotels where you are bound to get fully pampered. Here are my favorite ones.

Su Gologone (Oliena)

Located in the heart of Barbagia, but not too far away from the sea, Su Gologone offers a unique experience: a full immersion in Sardinia’s culture, housing, and cuisine. Everything, from the carefully furnished rooms to the top traditional cuisine, is made to impress the guests. The place is also pet-friendly and equipped with a swimming pool and a tennis court. It’s really a place worth staying at!

Nudist beaches in Sardinia

La Bitta – Bovis Hotel (Arbatax)

At this hotel, you can choose to relax at the beach, in the swimming pool, or in their wellness center. The rooms are all broad and bright, perfect for a relaxing stay, and the staff organizes daily activities in the neighboring area. The food is excellent, too – La Bitta is one of the best restaurants in Sardinia (in fact, you should go even if you decide not to stay there), and in a prime location. Make sure to try drinks at the on-site bar too.

Although there are plenty more luxury hotels in Sardinia, I have decided to select just my favorite ones. Wherever you choose to go, rest assured that you will be met with the best service on the island!
