Looking for the best San Teodoro hotels? There’s plenty of choice, but where you stay can make a big difference to your trip.
San Teodoro is one of my go-to summer destinations here in Sardinia, where I live, and I return every year. It’s a beautiful small town, only 20 km (12.4 miles) from Olbia, home to some of the nicest beaches in northern Sardinia, perfect for snorkeling, with beautiful scenery, a lagoon where you’ll see a colony of pink flamingos, and a relaxed but lively atmosphere.
In San Teodoro, you’ll find everything from budget B&Bs to large resorts near the coast. The right choice depends on what you want from your stay — whether that’s being close to the beach, within walking distance of restaurants and nightlife, or in a quieter area where you’ll need a car.
I have written a Full Guide To San Teodoro, which you should read for more information on great beaches, things to do, and restaurants.
Below, you’ll find my curated selection of the best San Teodoro hotels, with options for different budgets and travel styles.

Where To Stay In San Teodoro
San Teodoro is not very large, but where you stay makes a big difference to your experience — especially when it comes to beaches, restaurants, and how much you’ll need a car to get around.
Expert tip: If it’s your first time in San Teodoro, staying near La Cinta or close to the town center is usually the easiest option.
Here’s how to choose the right area.
San Teodoro town center
Best for: restaurants, nightlife, walkability
This is where you’ll find most of the town’s restaurants, bars, and evening atmosphere. It’s where to stay in San Teodoro if you want to go out at night without having to drive.
Most places to stay here are small hotels, B&Bs, and guesthouses rather than large resorts.
Good to know: the beach is not right in the center, so you’ll still need to walk, bike, or drive to places like La Cinta.
Not ideal if: you want to stay right on the beach or prefer a quieter setting.
La Cinta area
Best for: beach access, first-time visitors
This is one of the most popular places to stay in San Teodoro, because it guarantees direct access to La Cinta, one of the best-known beaches in northern Sardinia.
Some hotels here are within walking distance of both the beach and the town, so it’s one of the most convenient areas to stay in San Teodoro overall.
Good to know: it can get busy in peak season, and parking can be tricky as not all hotels have their own parking spaces.
Not ideal if: you’re looking for a quiet, secluded stay in high season.
Outskirts and countryside
Best for: quieter stays, better value
Staying just outside San Teodoro means you won’t be within walking distance of beaches or restaurants. You’ll usually find larger rooms or apartments, often with outdoor space like terraces or gardens, and lower prices than in town.
Good to know: you will need a car to get to the beach, restaurants, and pretty much anywhere else.
Not ideal if: you don’t plan to rent a car or want to walk to restaurants and bars.

Puntaldia / Lu Impostu / coastal area
Best for: scenery, beaches, resort-style stays
This is one of the best areas to stay in San Teodoro if you like the idea of being immersed in beautiful scenery. As a bonus, you’ll have easy access to beaches like Lu Impostu and Cala Brandinchi (two of the most impressive protected beaches in Sardinia).
You’ll find a mix of higher-end resorts and private accommodations, often in more secluded settings.
Good to know: this area is quieter in the evening, and you’ll need a car if you want to go into San Teodoro town.
Not ideal if: you want nightlife or easy access to restaurants without driving.
Do You Need A Car In San Teodoro?
As a local, let me tell you that yes, you will need a car — especially if you want to make the most of your trip.
San Teodoro is relatively small, but the beaches, accommodation, and restaurants are spread out. Public transport is limited, and I would not count on taxis or Uber. They are hardly ever available here.
You can get by without a car if you stay near La Cinta, since you will be within walking distance of the beach, or if you stay close to the town center and plan to spend most evenings there
But even then, you won’t really be able to explore much, and that’s a pity.
If you want to visit beaches like Cala Brandinchi or Lu Impostu, stay in quieter areas outside town, go out for dinner without worrying about transport, and explore further afield (for example, take a boat tour to Tavolara Island or to Molara Island), you will need to rent a car for your trip.
If you’re planning to rent a car, I recommend checking prices on Discover Cars — it’s usually the easiest way to compare options and pick up directly at Olbia Airport.
